eliminate any tan lines if you wish. For hard-to-tan and fair skin, our premium quality airbrush

“Island Tan”!
How Does Airbrush Tanning work?
The FDA approved active ingredient, dihydroxyacetone (DHA), reacts with the amino acids
(proteins) in the outermost layer of your skin to produce a golden brown color. It takes three to
four hours for the reaction to complete and your tan to appear. There is an (optional) external
bronzer in our product which shows immediately.
Why should I choose your service over the 60 second spray tanning booth?
If you've ever driven your car through an automatic car wash, you've probably been unpleased
with the fact that some areas of the car, the bumper, for example do not get cleaned thoroughly.
The same idea applys to the 60 second spray booth. Some areas of your body get sprayed too
heavily, other areas didn't get sprayed enough. Leaving you looking like that old car you drove
through the car wash. GLO Mobile Tanning allows you to decide which areas of your body need
more attention (more tan), which to leave alone, and so on. And, if for some reason, the bumper,
or any other body part needs more attention upon completion, we are happy to make sure you
are 100% satisfied.
How Safe Is Airbrush Tanning?
The active ingredient, DHA (dihydroxyacetone), is derived from raw sugar cane and has been
FDA approved for cosmetic use. DHA has been used safely over the years in numerous sunless
tanning products, such as creams and lotions. The premium quality product we use is
manufactured with the most advanced method available in a cold-blend process and an
aqueous, non-alcoholic solution. Our solution allows for better adhesion and longer-lasting
results than similarly advertised products which charge more and is without the odd coloring
effects of earlier generation products.
What Is The Difference Between Airbrush Tanning And Using Cream Or Lotion
Sunless Tanners?
Imagine the difference between wearing oven mitts to smear paint over your car and using an
airbrush to paint it. Even with the greatest of care, and help from a friend to get all the places
you cannot reach, you cannot duplicate the evenness and natural look of an airbrushed tan.
Other Reasons to choose us Spray/Airbrush Tanning:
According to the Academy of Dermatology, the most effective sunless tanning products
available are those containing DHA as the active ingredient. The Federal Trade Commission
again emphasizes the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays from indoor tanning devices such as
tanning beds and booths, which cause:
• Premature Aging/Wrinkles
• Sunburn
• Risk of Skin Cancer
This is why airbrush Tanning is safe, fast and worry-free.
The Art of Airbrushing has been available all over the world for years and especially popular in
Hollywood.
People all over the world who love tanning are turning away from sun beds and the harsh
effects of the sun and switching over to the revolutionary method of airbrush tanning.
Airbrush tanning is the easiest way to apply the active ingredient DHA (found in most self
tanning products). The fine mist from the airbrush ensures a perfectly even application to the
skins surface. As there is no 'rubbing in' required, this technique avoids streaking and
patchiness.
DHA has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years and was listed with the FDA in
1973. In addition to its skin darkening abilities, DHA is also used as an emulsifier, humectants
and fungicide. It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to color the
skin. DHA is derived from glycerin (vegetable origin), which is a commonly used cosmetic and
food ingredient.
DHA is not absorbed into the body and poses no possibility of toxicity. DHA, skin and work with
the proteins and amino acids, which in turn will create a DARK TAN that will last between five to
seven days, depending on your skin type and activity level (but can be maintained for longer
with a Tan Extender Moisturizer).
As DHA is rich in agents that softens and soothes the skin the life of your tan is lengthened.
However, your skin type has everything to do with the duration of your tan. People with dry skin
shed more dead skin cells when the solution is applied to the skin, it will absorb into the top
layer of your skin cells. This results in a shorter life span of your tan and underlines the
importance in moisturizing as much as possible.
More about Sunless Spray Tanning
What is exactly is Spray Sunless Tanning?
Spray sunless tanning is the newest in sunless tanning application, and is a personal, customized
service. Spray sunless tanning is the application of a sunless tanning solution (containing DHA)
using an airbrush or in my case, an HVLP System with a spray gun. The airbrush/gun applies a soft
mist via compressed air.
The huge benefit of airbrush tanning is the personalized application. Special care is taken around
hands, feet, elbows, and knees to make sure they are not too dark. Since people have slightly
difficult results with sunless tanners, the application can be custom tailored to a client's specific
needs (a darker application for a more tropical glow, tanning of legs only, solution with or without
bronzer, a very light application during the winter, etc). Rarely someone may be allergic to DHA (like
with any cosmetic ingredient).
How Do Sunless Tanners Work?
All sunless tanners contain the active ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which reacts with the
amino acids in the top layer of your skin. DHA combines with the amino acids to form a brown-color-
the "sunless" tan. The "tan" starts to show up around 4 hours after application, and can continue to
develop for up to 24 hours. In the 1970s the Food and Drug Administration added DHA to their list of
approved cosmetic ingredients. In the 1980s, the cosmetic companies found a way to produce
better results with DHA (browner, less orange).
Erythrulose is a similar ingredient that is sometimes added to sunless tanners. On its own, it
develops much more slowly, reaching its full color over 2 days. When combined with DHA, it
produces a deep dark tan that often lasts several days longer than a DHA-only tan.
Will I get that fake “orange” color?
No, we use the highest quality tanning solution that will give you that “kissed by the sun” look and will
transition smoothly into your DHA color that will develop later.
How long does the tan take to set in?
Although you will instantly look tan due to the bronzer, the actual self-tanner takes about 6-8 hours to
fully react with your skin. After that time, it’s safe to shower. However, We now carry several solutions
that develop in 2-4 hours, please ask us about these solutions.
How does it work if you come to my house to tan me?
A trained technician will arrive with the tanning equipment and a portable pop-up booth so the
tanning solution does not get on furniture, etc. The technician will set up, apply a gorgeous golden
tan and be out your door in about 30 minutes.
If I don’t live in Silicon Valley can I still use your mobile tanning service?
Yes, we accommodate the entire bay area.
To save money, may I come to you to get tanned?
Yes, you can come to my office located in the Willow Glen area of San Jose and have your tan
airbrushed here for a reduced price.
Do you use the same self-tanning solution for everyone?
No, we offer a large variety of solutions and carry a number of different brands depending on the
desired outcome. Check out our products page. Its best to speak live to a consultant to discuss the
color you are hoping for – we can always mix a specific solution for any skin type.
How long will my tan last?
Your natural looking tan will last anywhere from 4-10 days, depending on your skin
type. The use of a GLO on the Go! tan extenders can assist in prolonging the life of your
tan. Please ask us about our signature after GLO tanning products.
How can I prevent my tan from fading unevenly and looking patchy?
Applying a good moisturizer at least twice a day in conjunction with a GLO to go Tan Rejuvenator
will prolong your tan and reduce the appearance of uneven fading and patchiness. Exfoliating
between maintenance sessions is very important.
WHAT WOULD CAUSE CLIENTS TAN TO FADE EARLY?
Since the tan is on the top layer of the skin, any exfoliants will fade it. Showering with a loofa or bar
soap, cholorine from a pool or Jacuzzi, swimming in the ocean, waxing and shaving are all
considered exfoliants. Cold weather or excessive sun bathing would also cause the skin to "peel" so
should be protected when exposed to these conditions.
How long will it take the DHA to develop?
You will see an immediate tan. This is due to the cosmetic bronzer that is used as a color guide to
see where I have applied the solution. It also gives you the immediate gratification of having a
beautiful tan. Your actual tan will take at least 4 hours to develop and can continue to develop up
to 24 hours and will be visible once you have showered.
Will it stain my clothes?
The solution is totally water soluble and it easily washes out of all natural fabrics and most
synthetics.
Will the color wash off in the shower?
The cosmetic bronzer that is visible immediately when you are sprayed will wash off with your first
shower, revealing the DHA tan beneath.
How dark will I get after one session?
Sunless spray tanning is not a perfect science. Results will vary based on each individual’s skin type.
There are different strengths of solutions that can be used according to each person’s skin type. It
helps to have realistic expectations, and we will review that with you before your first session.
Will it stain my hair?
No, most people will not see any affect on the color of their hair. People with gray or blond hair may
see some discoloration initially, but will wash out with your first shower. We supply a shower cap to
protect your hair.
What should I wear?
A dark bathing suit or thong is the preference of most clients but its what you are comfortable in.
GLO on the Go! will provide tanning undergarments if preferred.
Can I tan if I am pregnant?
Pregnant women have been safely using sunless tanners for years. However, I recommend that you
check with your doctor so you can make an educated decision.
